MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Concentric Medical, Inc. today announced the full European launch of Trevo™, the first device utilizing Stentriever™ technology for clot retrieval in ischemic stroke patients.
Trevo is the newest offering in a portfolio of products from Concentric Medical, the company that first introduced retrievers for acute ischemic stroke. The Trevo's stent-like design leverages the company's long history of developing clot retrieval technologies for stroke. Backed by years of research, Trevo is the first and only retriever of its type designed for quick access, rapid clot integration and predictable clot retrieval in ischemic stroke patients.
Prior to launch, the Trevo was evaluated in a limited number of centers across Europe. Professor Olav Jansen, Head of Interventional Neuroradiology at Universitatsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein in Kiel, Germany commented from the neuroRAD congress in Cologne, "I have performed some fast and successful cases with the new Trevo. This is a powerful and easy-to-use revascularization device. I now have a safe weapon for treating stroke."
Maria Sainz, President and CEO of Concentric Medical, also commented, "The introduction of the Trevo System in Europe is all about offering physicians a faster, more confident means of removing a clot in acute stroke cases. We have always believed that retrieving the clot has the potential to offer patients a better outcome. The data in our previous clot retrieval trials, MERCI and Multi MERCI, have provided sound evidence of the benefits of retrieving clot for stroke patients. The Trevo is offered as a complete system for use with Concentric's microcatheter, balloon guide catheter and DAC™ catheter making the stroke retrieval procedure easier and more predictable."

About Acute Ischemic StrokeStroke is the third leading cause of death in the developed world and the leading cause of serious long‐term disability. Ischemic stroke represents over 85% of strokes and occurs when a blockage or clot develops in one of the arteries supplying blood to the brain. CE mark for the Merci Retriever was first obtained in 2002. In 2004 the FDA cleared Concentric Medical's Merci Retriever® for use in patients who are ineligible for IV‐tPA or who fail to respond to IV-tPA therapy. This pioneering device creates a departure from the historic method of caring for stroke patients and offers physicians and patients a long-awaited option for stroke intervention.Media Contact: +1 firstname.lastname@example.org
