Chronische Nierenerkrankung: Das Risiko des Fortschreitens reduzieren -- Prismic Pharmaceuticals sichert sich exklusive Lizenzrechte

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona, 17. Juni 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Prismic Pharmaceuticals, Inc., ein Pharmaunternehmen mit Sitz in Scottsdale, Arizona, gab heute bekannt, dass es die exklusiven Lizenzrechte an Palmitoylethanolamid (PEA), inklusive der mikronisierten und ultra-mikronisierten Formen, erhalten hat. Es handelt sich dabei um einen neuartigen, nicht steroidalen, nierenfreundlichen, entzündungshemmenden und antifibrotischen Wirkstoff mit nachgewiesenem Sicherheitsprofil beim Menschen.

Der Chief Medical Officer von Prismic, Dr. Teo Forcht Dagi, äußerte sich zur Sicherung der Rechte dieses neuen bedeutenden Wirkstoffs: „Entzündungen und oxidativer Stress spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Induktion und beim Fortschreiten der chronischen Nierenerkrankung. Dies ist insbesondere bei Diabetikern so, und es ist wahrscheinlich, dass die Entzündung einen wichtigen Faktor für die Entstehung und das Fortschreiten der diabetischen Nephropathie darstellt. Darüber hinaus können erhöhte Werte der Entzündungszytokinen bei Diabetes den oxidativen Stress erhöhen, wenn die Nierenschädigung stärker ausgeprägt ist, wodurch es zu einem Teufelskreis kommt. Prismic plant daher die weitere klinische Entwicklung mit PEA, um das Konzept nachzuweisen, dass das Molekül diesen Kreislauf ohne Beeinträchtigung der Nierenfunktion unterbrechen kann."
