CareFusion Earns Top Ranking in MD Buyline and KLAS Reports
Date:10/6/2009

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CareFusion (NYSE: CFN), a new clinical and medical products corporation, has received No. 1 rankings by independent market research firms for two of the corporation's key brands. CareFusion's Pyxis® technologies were again named number one in user satisfaction ratings in MD Buyline's 2009 third quarter report (July through September) for the third consecutive quarter; and CareFusion's MedMined(TM) Services received the annual top ranking for infection surveillance technology providers by KLAS, published in August 2009.

"These rankings reflect our commitment to deliver superior customer service and innovative medical technologies that are clinically proven to improve patient care," said Dave Schlotterbeck, chairman and chief executive officer of CareFusion. "While CareFusion is a new company, we have a long history of helping hospitals and medical facilities improve health care delivery in terms of effectiveness, cost efficiencies and, most importantly, patient safety."

MD Buyline collects technology evaluations from health care providers and tallies the scores based on a 12-month rolling average score. KLAS' ratings are based on the overall performance calculated from individual scores for each of 40 criteria, consisting of 28 performance indicators and 12 business indicators based on a 100-point scale.

CareFusion's Pyxis® technologies for managing medications and supplies have been shown to reduce supply costs by 50 percent(1) and help to protect 1.5 million patients annually from medication errors(2). Additionally, CareFusion estimates that its MedMined(TM) Services has the potential to help hospitals save 6,800 lives and $1 billion in health care costs annually by helping to identify at-risk patients and ways to reduce health care-acquired infections (HAIs)(3).

Pyxis® Technologies will be highlighted at the upcoming Managing Today's OR Suite (MTORS) Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nev., from October 7-8, 2009.
