Cannabis-Based Cancer Treatment Findings Revealed at Hollywood Fundraiser
Date:8/14/2018

Tracy Ryan, cannabis advocate and founder of SavingSophie.org, is spearheading a unique fundraising event: The Saving Sophie Experience - A Journey To Find The Cure on October 12th, 2018 from 7-10pm at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Tropicana Bar. Partygoers will have a meet and greet with Sophie herself, pow wow with celebrities, enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and great music alongside a special program. Teams will set out on the experiential scavenger hunt through a series of rooms that will put you on a heroic mission to find the cure! An Awards Ceremony will immediately follow where prizes will be given to the teams with the fastest times.

Saving Sophie is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to support families whose loved ones are ill by providing financial support, educational resources, and funding research to discover better treatments for diseases like cancer and autism. Ryan founded Saving Sophie in 2014 after her daughter Sophie was diagnosed with Optic Pathway Giloma, an inoperable brain tumor. After meeting a world-renown cancer research doctor that agreed to study Sophie’s brain tumor tissue and blood, it was discovered Sophie’s cannabis treatment reactivated her body’s Natrual Killer (NK) cells, a subset of immune cells that kill the most aggressive forms of cancers. Sophie should have gone blind years ago, but due to the amount of tumor shrinkage they have continued to see in a tumor that doesn’t normally shrink well, Sophie still sees today.

Due to these findings, two additional children who used cannabis alongside their cancer treatments have been enrolled in the study, both of which were terminal and should have succumbed to their diseases 3+ years ago. Based on the doctor’s preliminary results, she plans to work with Tracy Ryan to enroll additional patients, and further explore the effects of cannabis in those suffering from cancerous diseases. “We are extraordinarily excited to already have discoveries that modern medicine can’t explain. Breakthroughs like this are encouraging and important because pediatric cancer research is so underfunded. The day I learned of Sophie’s cancer diagnosis was the scariest day of my life. My hope is through the Saving Sophie organization, we can give hope to families who find themselves on a similar path” stated Tracy Ryan.

Through the Saving Sophie Experience – A Journey to Find The Cure, we are going to make a direct impact on cancer research with hopes of bringing the world even closer to finding a cure. The donations from this event will go to Saving Sophie, with up to $160,000 going to the university we are working with to support further research. Ryan explains, “We are hopeful that individuals who hear of our event will rush to support such a worthy cause. There are so many people suffering from cancer, and with this research we truly believe we can help them!”

About Tracy Ryan and SavingSophie.org - Saving Sophie, a 501c3 organization founded by Tracy Ryan, provides homeopathic and western medicine education for families suffering from serious illness, with an additional focus on funding research. Ryan’s own daughter Sophie, whom the organization is named after, was diagnosed at 8 ½ months old with an Optic Pathway Glioma. Since the age of 9 months, she has undergone cannabinoid therapy alongside Western medicines to keep her tumor at bay. Her doctors have been able to attribute the extraordinary tumor regression to the use of cannabinoid therapy, along with her capabilities to miraculously heal. Sophie is among a community of pediatric patients whose life expectancy and quality have improved by leaps and bounds due to cannabinoid therapy. More information and Sophie’s full story can be found at SavingSophie.org.

Tracy and her family have been featured in many national and international news pieces including an appearance on The Doctors, National Geographic, Vice News, CNN, Entertainment Tonight, The Huffington Post, Telemundo, and many more. They are also the key focus of the Ricki Lake and Abby Epstein documentary, “Weed The People”.
