CRF Institute Names Sigma-Aldrich Top Employer Europe 2012

ST. LOUIS, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sigma-Aldrich® Corporation (Nasdaq: SIAL) was recently named one of Europe's Top Employers by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF) Institute, a joint initiative of academics, business journalists, trade associations, researchers and international publishers that offers independent Human Resources (HR) assessment and acknowledgement.  Sigma-Aldrich is one of nine companies that earned Top Employer Europe 2012 certification.  The certification recognizes the Company's high standards for HR offerings to employees across all its participating countries.

"Training and development are integral to the future success of our employees and our Company," said Mike Harris, Vice President and Managing Director – Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for Sigma-Aldrich.  "We understand the importance of investing in our employees, most recently through the success of our newly opened European headquarters in Switzerland.  Recognition by the CRF Institute is a great honor and reinforces our strategy and approach in developing one of our most important assets, our people."

The CRF Institute assessed winning organizations based on primary and secondary benefits and working conditions, training and development, career development and company culture. In addition, each company had to successfully achieve the criteria in a minimum of five countries. Outstanding employers are independently researched and certified by the CRF Institute annually.

"The outstanding HR policies and practices that Top Employers offer their staff show they regard talent management as a top priority," said David Plink, CEO with the CRF Institute.  "They provide their employees not just with the things that interest them now, but also those that will prepare them for their next career step within the organization. Top Employers clearly show that they appreciate and foster their employees."
