CIVCO's Protura™ Installed at Puerto Rico's Instituto Radioterapia del Este

KALONA, Iowa, Sept. 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CIVCO Medical Solutions' Protura Robotic Patient Positioning System has been installed at the Instituto Radioterapia del Este in Puerto Rico. Assisting with highly accurate positioning and efficient workflow, the Protura system elevates the level of radiation therapy available in the Puerto Rico area and eliminates the need for many patients to travel for treatment.

CIVCO's Protura system fully enables IGRT by providing sub-millimeter corrections with 6 degrees of freedom. "I am very grateful to have treated our first patients at our state-of-the-art cancer center here in Puerto Rico," said Dr. Carlos Remedios, Chief Medical Officer for Instituto Radioterapia del Este. "We have the ability to treat the most complex and challenging cases, offering the most advanced radiotherapy options that patients would have to travel long distances to get similar offerings." Protura has provided the center with additional confidence and the ability to treat challenging cases.
