Best Sanitizers, Inc. Supports the CDC’s Food Safety Education Month by Offering Food Processors Training & Support to Reduce Cross-Contamination and Foodborne Illness
Date:9/13/2018

This September is Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Food Safety Education Month. This annual campaign is designed to raise awareness on how to help prevent food poisoning. According to the CDC, every year, an estimated 1 in 6 Americans (or 48 million people) get sick, 128,000 are hospitalized, and 3,000 die from eating contaminated food. In support of the campaign, Best Sanitizers is educating food processors and food handlers on effective food safety measures that can help reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

As pathogen control experts in the food manufacturing industry, Best Sanitizers is doing their part to train and educate food processors and food production workers in the areas of hand, footwear, and surface hygiene. These efforts support the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) ruling, which asks for food manufactures to show “continuous improvement” as one of the elements in their food safety plans.

As part of Food Safety Education Month, Best Sanitizers is offering food processing facilities on-site hand and footwear hygiene trainings, demonstrations, and educational webinars. By educating production workers and food handlers on the importance of food safety, Best Sanitizers can help facilities reduce cross-contamination and foodborne illness. Interested companies can learn more and schedule their training by calling Best Sanitizers at 888.225.3267.

Best Sanitizers recommends employees wash their hands with a sanitizing hand soap, such as Alpet® Q E2 Sanitizing Foam Soap and then follow up with a quality hand sanitizer, such as Alpet® E3 Plus Hand Sanitizer Spray. Alpet Q E2 Sanitizing Foam Soap is pH balanced, fragrance and dye free, while Alpet E3 Plus kills 99.9999% (LOG 6) of 26 tested pathogens in 15 seconds. Both products are formulated with emollients to help keep hands soft and healthy, even with repeated use.

To effectively reduce pathogens on food contact surfaces, including rubber gloves and non-food contact surfaces, including rubber footwear, Best Sanitizers recommends using a D2 rated surface sanitizer, such as Alpet® D2 and Alpet® D2 Quat-Free Surface Sanitizer. Both Alpet D2 and Alpet D2 Quat-Free are highly evaporative, and ideal for water sensitive equipment and low moisture environments. When used with one of our HACCP Defender or HACCP SmartStep Footwear Sanitizing Stations, Alpet D2 and Alpet D2 Quat-Free create a very efficient and effective tool in the fight against cross-contamination from footwear. In addition, Alpet D2 and Alpet D2 Quat-Free can be used to clean and then sanitize tools, control panels, work tables, countertops, thermostats and much more!

“Best Sanitizers is dedicated to reducing cross-contamination in food and beverage processing plants, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical facilities through the proper use of cleaning and sanitizing products and equipment,” stated Ryan Witt, Best Sanitizers’ Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “We are proud to support and bring awareness to the CDC’s Food Safety Education Month”.
