Fast 4 Millionen Menschen infizieren sich jedes Jahr mit dieser Krankheit, an der jährlich 350.000 sterben.

Die Open Society Foundations unterstützen Patientengruppen und Behandlungsbefürworter bei ihren Bemühungen den Zugang zu Hepatitis C Behandlungen in zahlreichen Ländern mit mittleren Einkommen zu ermöglichen - darunter Georgien, die Ukraine, Vietnam, Thailand, Brasilien und Russland - wo die Kosten selbst für bestehende Hepatitisbehandlungen außerhalb der Reichweite der Betroffenen liegen.
