Date:10/25/2013

CHICAGO, Oct. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Baylor Health Care System, which following a 2013 merger is now part of the new Baylor Scott & White Health, has successfully upgraded to Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) Sunrise Clinicals 6.1, an integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution, certified in accordance with the 2014 certification criteria supporting the Meaningful Use Stage 2 measures, that supports the organization's vision of being the most trusted name in giving and receiving safe, quality, compassionate health care.

Allscripts Sunrise Clinicals 6.1 is an advanced clinical information solution that integrates inpatient and ambulatory care through a single, enterprise-wide EHR.

Allscripts Sunrise Clinicals 6.1 was made generally available in June of this year. This release is certified in accordance with both the 2011/2012 and 2014 certification criteria supporting Meaningful Use Stage 1 and 2 measures. With significant functional enhancements, Sunrise Clinicals 6.1 is also designed to help clinicians manage the complexity of ICD-10.

"The successful Allscripts Sunrise Clinicals 6.1 upgrade places our organization in a good position for the next stages of our health information technology development, including Meaningful Use Stage 2," said Dr Joseph Schneider, Chief Medical Information Officer at Baylor Health Care System.

Allscripts has the second-most Meaningful Use attestations among healthcare information technology (HIT) vendors from 2011-2013, according to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

"The Baylor Information team performed unprecedented testing and scenario planning for the Allscripts Sunrise upgrade," said Dr. Rosemary Luquire, Chief Nursing Officer, Baylor Scott & White Health North Texas. "This exceptional preparation led to a shorter downtime with an upgrade that will improve system performance and functionality."

Baylor Scott & White Health is a not-for-profit health care system with total assets of $8.3 billion* and the vision and resources to offer its patients continued exceptional care while creating a model system for a dramatically changing health care environment. The new system includes 43 hospitals, more than 500 patient care sites, more than 6,000 active physicians, 34,000 employees and the Scott & White Health Plan.

"Congratulations to all at Baylor on completing the upgrade to Allscripts Sunrise Clinicals 6.1," said Paul M. Black, President and Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "Sunrise Clinicals 6.1 will facilitate Meaningful Use 2 certification, and with increased power and functionality will support Baylor Health Care System as it drives positive outcomes and delivers the best possible care for patients."
