Baxano Rapidly Expands Sales Force to Support Robust Demand for the iO-Flex® System
Date:10/31/2011

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 31, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Baxano, Inc., a Silicon Valley based medical device company and manufacturer of the iO-Flex® System for spinal decompression surgery, announces a rapid expansion of its sales infrastructure to meet the surging demand for its products.

This continued expansion in the field infrastructure will help increase Baxano's reach into new and existing accounts throughout the U.S. while providing greater support to surgeons in their efforts to help treat a growing number of patients suffering from lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS), a disease that currently affects roughly 3 million adults annually.

Tony Recupero, President & CEO of Baxano, commented, "We are very optimistic about Baxano's current success and future prospects.  Our monthly sales have grown 300% during the first three quarters of 2011 and Q4 is showing even stronger growth rates.  We are expanding our sales coverage so that we can continue to deliver this very innovative technology to surgeons who are treating LSS patients."

Baxano's flagship iO-Flex® System is the first minimally invasive set of flexible instruments designed to target lumbar stenosis in the central canal, lateral recess and neural foramen, with minimal disruption to the patient's healthy anatomy. It is the only treatment alternative that is able to reach and remove tissue that creates pressure on multiple nerve roots through a single incision.

The Company is also currently enrolling patients in two separate post-market trials (iO-Flex Study and STRiDE) to further demonstrate outcomes and economics relative to traditional treatments for LSS.
