Baxa to Sponsor ASHP Midday Symposium - The Power of Control: Using Pharmacy Software Tools to get Control of your Workflow, Ensure Quality Control and Support Patient Safety Initiatives

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Nov. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Baxa Corporation, a leading provider of medical devices and systems that automate pharmacy operations and increase patient safety, today announced its sponsorship of a customer forum at the 45th American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting.  The two-hour Midday Symposia presentation, The Power of Control: Using pharmacy software tools to get control of your workflow, ensure quality control and support patient safety initiatives, features a panel of health-system professionals that will highlight how pharmacy workflow management can improve patient safety, drive efficiency and manage quality control in the pharmacy.  The ACPE-accredited program takes place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7th in Platinum Ballroom 7 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel in Anaheim, California.

The panel discussion, moderated by Rich Paoletti, Vice-President of Operations, Lancaster General Hospital, will explore the advantages of dose preparation management for IV and oral doses.  The panel will include a number of pharmacy experts, including:

  • Jennifer Austin, Director of Pharmacy, St. Joseph Hospital, N. Lutz, Florida.  She is an Associate Faculty member for the ASHP Foundation's Pharmacy Leadership Academy and a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy.
  • Jack Bond, Director of Pharmacy and Director of Respiratory Therapy, Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.  He is highly published, including a 2003 implementation guide for Electronic Medication Administration Records and Medication Bar Coding, and is a member of the ASHP, APHA, KSHP and the Wichita Academy of Pharmacists.
  • Pranish Kantesaria, Director of Pharmacy, Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana.  In addition to earning a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, he worked in genetics research at Harvard Medical School after receiving his BS in biochemistry/biophysics.
