B.Braun, along with Analogic Corporation, is supporting a Pre-Meeting Workshop titled, "Ultrasound Guided Upper Extremity Simulation Workshop," on Saturday, September 6th from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. Dr. Robert B. Dawson, DNP, MSA, APRN, ACNP-BC, CPUI, VA-BC, Vascular Access Consultant, PICC Academy and Nancy L. Moureau, BSN, CRNI, CPUI, VA-BC, President & CEO, PICC Excellence, Inc. will present. Dr. Dawson will also be a featured presenter during the Platinum Showcase sessions. Dr. Dawson's session presentation, "Maximizing Peripheral Access Success: Featuring Clinical Application of Evidence using a Practice Framework," will provide a comprehensive overview on how to implement peripheral vascular access for the least risk to the patient to help achieve optimal outcomes. The presentation will take place on Monday, September 8th, 2014 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center Potomac Room 3-4. B.Braun is also a proud sponsor of AVA foundation's annual fund raiser Connect the Dots, which supports education and research.

"Catheter-related bloodstream infections, needlestick (sharps) injuries and exposure to potentially deadly blood borne pathogens continue to be major issues facing all healthcare professionals," said Tom Sutton, Vice President of Vascular Access Systems at B.Braun. "We are committed to combating these issues by providing a robust portfolio of safety-engineered IV therapy devices that offer patient protection against infection and optimum safety for clinicians in the workplace," added Sutton.

Dr. Dawson will be the featured expert at B.Braun's booth where he will demonstrate his 45/50 rule for ultrasound peripheral vascular access on Monday, September 8th (1:15 – 2:15 p.m.), Tuesday, September 9th (12:15 – 1:15 p.m.), and Wednesday, September 10th (12:30 – 1:30 p.m.). In addition, B.Braun will demonstrate the following safety-engineered IV therapy devices at booth (#110) during AVA.

  • Introcan Safety® IV Catheter, which is designed with innovative passive-safety features to help eliminate accidental needlestick injury - effortlessly. From insertion to catheter deployment to needle removal, clinicians are protected by a truly passive safety device that is activated automatically - no extra steps required and cannot be bypassed.
  • Introcan Safety® 3 Closed IV Catheter, B.Braun's latest innovation, which takes the same preferred passive safety-engineered needlestick protection found in Introcan Safety and adds additional protection from blood exposure. For safety and convenience, the Introcan Safety 3's unique multi-access blood control septum minimizes blood exposure during needle removal and each time the catheter hub is accessed.
  • InVision-Plus® Neutral IV Connector, the latest addition to the B.Braun needleless connector portfolio through an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement with RyMed Technologies, LLC, provides a 10-point standard of features. B.Braun's portfolio of needleless connectors, including the CARESITE® Luer Access Device, offers a safe way to access IV lines through innovative features designed to help reduce catheter occlusions while protecting healthcare workers from accidental needlestick injuries.
