Date:7/10/2012

ATLANTA, July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Arbor Pharmaceuticals, a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Atlanta, GA, announced today that it has committed an unrestricted charitable donation of $250,000 to the Association of Black Cardiologists ("ABC") to further their efforts in addressing cardiovascular diseases and minimizing health disparities across diverse patient populations in the U.S.

ABC is a nonprofit organization with an international membership of 2,500 health professionals, members of the community, corporations and institutional members.  ABC is dedicated to eliminating the disparities related to cardiovascular disease in all people of color. Today, ABC's public and private partnerships continue to increase their impact in communities across the United States.

"We are pleased to be working with Arbor to further ABC's initiatives aimed at eliminating health disparities in cardiovascular disease and promoting health equity.  This has been the hallmark of our vision, and we appreciate Arbor's long-term commitment to helping make this a reality.  Recognizing that collaborative partnerships are essential to addressing health disparities, we invite others in our diverse community of pharmaceutical and device companies, insurers, academic and clinical institutions, government agencies, advocacy, patient and community groups to join us in realizing our vision," commented Ola Akinboboye, MD, MPH, MBA, President of the Association of Black Cardiologists.

Ed Schutter, President and CEO of Arbor commented, "Arbor shares the vision of ABC to eliminate disparities in cardiovascular disease through education and research.  We are dedicated to lowering the high rate of cardiovascular disease and to making a difference in minority populations and look forward to a long-standing relationship with the Association of Black Cardiologists."
