Aprima Earns High Marks at Holy Name Medical Center
Date:7/14/2011

DALLAS, July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) in Teaneck, NJ, announced today that Aprima Electronic Health Record (EHR), Practice Management (PM) and revenue cycle management (RCM) software has completed its pilot project and is ready for distribution to hospital-affiliated physicians under the federal Stark guidelines. The Aprima software passed extensive acceptance testing—including speed, functionality, and interfaces—to reach this benchmark.

The Aprima system will enable physicians to receive and share patient data with HNMC's custom hospital information system, known as WebHIS, as well as providing complete charting, practice management, and revenue cycle management functionality.  The Aprima system has the potential to be rolled out to as many as 800 doctors affiliated with the hospital.

Dr. Craig Hersh, Physician Medical Information Officer at the Holy Name Medical Center, led the testing and used the Aprima software in his sports medicine practice. He said, "From my practice, I just click on any patient record to get access to the complete hospital medical record. We do hundreds of X-rays, and they all come through Aprima, instead of arriving in large boxes of reports that we have to sort and file. That integration between Holy Name and Aprima makes us more efficient, improves communication among providers, and helps us provide better patient care. Even better, although we've only been using the system a short time, Aprima's billing and collections functions already seem to be increasing our reimbursements."

Using the system, Dr. Hersh especially appreciated Aprima's ability to accommodate users with different needs and levels of EHR experience. "Aprima is easy to use out of the box; at the same time, if you want to be a more advanced user, you can dive into capabilities like the common problem palette and customized workflows."

Aprima CEO Michael Nissenbaum said, "Holy Name and its physicians are just beginning to see all the ways Aprima will make patient care easier and improve communication. We're excited to be able to bring them the advantages of faster charting, easier access to all kinds of patient data, and improved financial performance."
