Anthera Pharmaceuticals Announces Pricing of Public Offering of Common Stock

HAYWARD, Calif., June 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anthera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANTH) today announced the pricing of an underwritten public offering of 6,666,667 shares of its common stock, offered at a price of $7.50 per share. The offering is expected to close on or about June 8, 2011, subject to customary closing conditions. In addition, Anthera has granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 1,000,000 shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any.  Citi and Leerink Swann LLC are acting as joint book-running managers in the offering and Canaccord Genuity is acting as lead co-manager in the offering.  

The Company estimates that the net proceeds from the offering, after deducting customary underwriting discounts and commissions and estimated offering expenses, will be approximately $47 million (or approximately $54 million if the underwriters' over-allotment option is exercised in full).  The Company intends to use the net proceeds from the offering for general corporate purposes.
