Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Announces Proposed Public Offering of Common Stock

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDS) announced today that it is offering to sell shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. Anadys also expects to grant the underwriter a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 15% of the shares of common stock offered in the public offering to cover over-allotments, if any. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by Anadys. Lazard Capital Markets LLC is acting as sole book-running manager in the offering.  The offering is subject to market conditions, and there can be no assurance as to whether or when the offering may be completed, or as to the actual size or terms of the offering.

Anadys intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to support a Phase IIb study of ANA598, which Anadys is on track to commence early in the first quarter of 2011, as well as for general corporate purposes, including working capital.
