Ampac Fine Chemicals' President Aslam Malik Joins SOCMA's Board of Governors; Industry Veteran Adds Significant Experience to Board

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- American Pacific Corporation (Nasdaq: APFC) announced today that Aslam Malik, Ph.D., President of its wholly-owned subsidiary Ampac Fine Chemicals LLC, has joined the Board of Governors of the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates ("SOCMA"), the leading U.S.-based trade association representing the batch, custom and specialty chemical industry. SOCMA supports chemical manufacturers with commercial and networking opportunities, advocates for the passage of rational laws and regulation, and works to increase public confidence in the industry.

Dr. Malik has over 24 years of industrial experience in the scale-up and production of fine chemicals, and has served as the President of Ampac Fine Chemicals since December 2005.  He also serves as a member of the advisory board of Chemical and Engineering News and a past member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Sacramento State University.  He has 21 publications and is an inventor/co-inventor of 56 U.S. and International patents.
