Alere Inc. Announces Completion of Consent Solicitations Related to its 9.0% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2016, 8.625% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2018 and 7.875% Senior Notes due 2016

WALTHAM, Mass., June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Alere Inc. (NYSE: ALR) (the "Company") announced that it has received the requisite consents for each of its consent solicitations commenced on May 31, 2011 relating to certain amendments of the indentures (together, the "Proposed Modifications") governing its 9.0% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2016 (the "9.0% Notes"), 8.625% Senior Subordinated Notes due 2018 (the "8.625% Notes") and 7.875% Senior Notes due 2016 (the "7.875% Notes," and, together with the 9.0% Notes and the 8.625% Notes, the "Notes").

i-Deal LLC, the information and tabulation agent for the consent solicitations, has advised the Company that as of the expiration of the consent solicitations at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on June 16, 2011, the Company had received consents that have not been withdrawn in respect of a majority in aggregate principal amount of each of the 9.0% Notes, the 8.625% Notes and the 7.875% Notes outstanding as of the applicable record dates.  Following the receipt of the requisite consents from holders of the Notes, the Company entered into supplemental indentures effecting the Proposed Modifications, substantially as described in the consent solicitation documents.  The consent fees and other fees contemplated by the consent solicitations are expected to be paid promptly.
