Access MediQuip Announces Release of the Country's First Centralized Recall Management Service(SM) for Implantable Devices
Date:3/17/2010

LAKE MARY, Fla., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Access MediQuip, LLC, the nation's first and largest provider of outsourced implantable medical device management solutions to the healthcare industry, announced today it has enhanced its proprietary Recall Management Service, "RMS," for its customers nationwide. The new release is designed to protect patients, inform and empower surgeons and facilities, and help payers improve quality while managing cost.

"Access MediQuip has a long history of offering a wide array of solutions to those in the implantable medical device field," said Access MediQuip Chief Executive Officer Tim Hargarten. "With the release of RMS we are now able to provide benefits that extend beyond traditional cost management into the realms of quality and patient safety."

RMS leverages its expansive database of facility, device, and case related information to identify potentially affected patients through a series of reactive and proactive processes. This capability allows RMS to recognize patients who have already received a defective device, as well as those currently scheduled to receive one. These safeguards help payers realize substantial savings by avoiding unnecessary procedural costs and enabling providers to deliver higher quality patient care.

"One of the greatest challenges we face during a medical device recall event is the lack of readily available information," said Dr. Fabian D'Souza, founding President of Boston Strategic Partners Inc. "The process of pulling procedural records and correlating them to specific implanted devices, with various serial and lot numbers, is both costly and highly inefficient. RMS has streamlined this process by providing notifications of which patients were potentially affected and their corresponding case information."
