Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Statement on Outcome of 2012 Presidential Election

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from AMCP Chief Executive Officer Edith A. Rosato, RPh, IOM:

On behalf of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), I would like to congratulate President Obama on winning the one of the hardest fought presidential elections of recent memory.

As the country looks forward to the next Administration, one thing remains clear to the more than 6,000 members of AMCP: health care reforms will continue moving forward. Our profession knows that we cannot and should not go back to the status quo – whatever legislative, political or economic challenges lie ahead.

AMCP is committed working with the Obama Administration and Congress to ensure that all Americans have access to quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care. Managed care pharmacy, in fact, helped pioneer many of the evidence-based practices that lie at the heart of many health care reform proposals today, whether Republican or Democratic. Our profession is based on identifying and delivering the most safe and effective care possible for the patient.

The next Administration will face many challenges as it seeks to bring efficiency to our widespread and fragmented health care system. But working together, we see an opportunity to make real and significant improvements that will benefit the health and wellbeing all Americans.
