2011 Korea's Medical Charity Program offers care for 31 int'l child patients

SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Rim, Che-min) and Korea Health Industry Development Institute (President Ko, Kyung-hwa) have announced that it would offer medical care to 31 international child patients from eight countries by the end of November through its 2011 Medical Charity Program run by Medical Korea, a brand to promote South Korea's advanced medical technology and services.

Korean Medical Charity Program to provide medical care for child patients from developing countries was launched to promote the 'South Korea's excellent progress in the medical technology and services field to the world.

2011 Korean Medical Charity Program has provided medical care for 31 child patients from eight countries: Russia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Egypt, Indonesia, China, Kazakhstan, and Cambodia. These patients have been invited to Korea by the end of November and get medical treatments for free following the first visit of Volodkin Danila, a 6-year-old Russian child suffering from heart disease, in January of this year. Eight Korean medical centers, which join the program and offer free treatment to invited child patients, are Samsung Medical Center, Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, Asan Medical Center, Severance Hospital, Sejong General Hospital, Yeson Voice Center, and Hallym University Medical Center.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and KHIDI hosted the ceremony for the 2011 Medical Charity Program at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul on Oct. 20. Eight children and their families from five countries who were given new hope and health centers and professionals participating in the charity program attended the ceremony.
