Productsndigo OPTIMA Laser System
Company Johnson and Johnson
Item ndigo OPTIMA Laser System
Features
  • Comprised of a portable diode laser, footswitch, cart, printer and associated fiberoptic delivery devices
  • Includes a treatment diode laser, a marker diode laser, a thermal management system, a microprocessor-based control system, a temperature detection system, a chassis and enclosure, and user interface displays and controls
  • Uses three types of fiberoptic delivery devices: 1) Diffuser-Tip Fiberoptic: BPH, 2) Bare-Tip Fiberoptic, and 3) Service Fiberoptic
  • A footswitch (remote activation switch) connects to the back of the laser unit or the cart and is used to activate the delivery of the laser beam
  • A printer is mounted in the laser cart and enables printing of treatment and system diagnostic information
  • Description The ndigo OPTIMA Laser System is designed to induce interstitial laser coagulation or tissue ablation using a near infrared laser source. When used to induce interstitial laser coagulation, the laser delivers a controlled level of laser energy to heat the targeted tissue to a temperature range where tissue necrosis rapidly occurs, but below temperatures at which carbonization begins. When used to ablate or cut tissue, the laser delivers a controlled level of laser energy to heat and vaporize tissue. The Diffuser-Tip and Bare-Tip Fiberoptics are sterile, single patient-use devices used for surgery. The Diffuser-Tip Fiberoptic delivers laser energy from a 1 cm area at the distal tip of the fiberoptic to create an ellipsoidal lesion in the tissue being treated. The Bare-Tip Fiberoptic has a cleaved bare tip which provides for controlled incision, excision or coagulation of tissues. Each of these fiberoptic devices consists of a connector, a transmissive fiberoptic cable, and a light emitting section at the tip of the fiberoptic. A memory device, embedded in the connector, provides the laser with information about the fiberoptic.
