ProductsWampole ISOSTAT/ISOLATOR Microbial System
Company Inverness Medical Innovations
Item Wampole ISOSTAT/ISOLATOR Microbial System
Features
  • Blood culture system for the collection and concentration of microorganisms from the blood.
  • The Isolator 10 mL adult tube and the Isolator 1.5 mL pediatric tube are used to concentrate and deliver microbial organisms to conventional growth media for purposes of isolation, identification and susceptibility testing.
Description More than 200,000 cases of septicemia occur yearly in the U.S., with a 40-50% mortality rate. Rapid isolation of the organism and the determination of its susceptibility to antimicrobial agents are essential. The Wampole ISOSTAT/ ISOLATOR Microbial System is a blood culture method based on lysis centrifugation. This technology is used to concentrate microorganisms in the sample resulting in faster isolation and increased recovery of organisms from the blood. The system includes the ISOLATOR 10 mL tube and the ISOLATOR 1.5 mL tube, developed specifically for pediatric patients. The ISOSTAT/ISOLATOR can be used as a full-use system or in conjunction with automated blood culture screening methods. It offers faster recovery times and superior sensitivity compared to most automated systems.
