Features Composed of beta-tricalcium phosphate (-TCP)a proven material for repair of bone defects. An improved -TCP made possible by fine particle synthesis technology. Particles approximately 100 nm in size, making up highly porous, 3-dimensional -TCP scaffolds (pores ranging from 1 to 1000 m in size). Similar architecture and chemical composition to natural bone mineral. Dissolution at a rate consistent with ingrowth of new bone. High surface area and nanoparticulate structure that enhances resorption. Promotes new bone ingrowth and maturation. Promotes new bone ingrowth and maturation. Available in 2 convenient forms - Blocks that can be shaped with a scalpel and gently tamped into place and Morsels that can be packed into irregularly shaped voids in the defect site.
Description Vitoss engineered to resemble cancellous bone in porosity and structure. -TCP constructs proven to perform well in spinal arthrodesis surgery and cancellous bone defects due to trauma and tumors. Resorbed by both dissolution and cell-mediated processes..
