  • Description Requires minimal cervical spine manipulation. Prevent dental and soft tissue damage. Used orally or nasally. Cost effective alternative to X-ray. Light-guided intubation is based upon the principle of the soft tissues in the neck. This technique takes advantage of the anterior location of the trachea relative to the esophagus. A well-defined, circumscribed glow can readily be seen in the anterior neck when the endotracheal tube and light enter the glottic opening. If the tip of the tube is placed in the esophagus, the light glow is diffused and will not be easily seen.

The Trachlight Stylet & Tracheal Lightwand was specifically designed to make transillimination safe and effective in patients where endotracheal intubation is needed. Light-guided intubation using the Trachlight is a safe and gentle technique for both oral and nasal ETT placement and positioning. Compared with traditional laryngoscopy, the complication rates can be significantly reduced with Trachlight. Less musocal bleeding. Fewer postoperative sore throats. Reduced hemodynamic response. Research has showh that even in the most challenging patients, light-guided intubation with Trachlight has a 99% success rate with an average time to intubate of less than 25 seconds.
