Description Toxoplasmosis is caused by the intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii and may be contracted by consuming contaminated meat or by contract with cat feces containing oocytes. If a pregnant woman contracts toxoplasmosis, it may be passed to the fetus through the placenta. This can result in congenital toxoplasmosis, which is a cause of mortality and malformation. This test is intended for professional use as an aid in the diagnosis of anti- Toxoplasma IgM antibodies.
