  • With TherMatrx, the exact prostatic treatment temperature is measured and controlled throughout the procedure.
  • The TherMatrx console automatically adjusts energy output based on actual prostatic temperature to apply the optimal dose of heat to each patient.
  • The TherMatrx treatment catheter delivers a carefully controlled dose of heat directly to the periurethral tissue.
  • This tissue is heated above the necrosis threshold of 45, resulting in symptom relief. (In TURP procedures, this is the tissue that is resected.)
  • Heat is not directed towards sensitive tissues such as the bladder neck or external sphincter which could cause discomfort during treatment and serious side effects.
  • Nor is it directed deep into the prostate towards the rectum and ejaculatory ducts, which also could result in serious side effects.
  • Four treatment coil lengths.
  • Varying coil lengths ensure that each patient safely receives the optimal dose of heat to precisely the right prostatic tissue based on individual prostatic urethral length.
  • The right coil length also means that only the intended tissue is treated.
Description TherMatrx® Dose Optimized Thermotherapy™ is an advanced transurethral microwave thermotherapy system designed for in-office treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). TherMatrx is the most widely used in-office BPH thermotherapy treatment in the United States. Unlike surgical solutions for BPH, TherMatrx does not require cutting, heavy sedation or hospitalization. A single TherMatrx treatment administered in your office can provide lasting symptom relief. Where other transurethral microwave thermal therapies (TUMT) use a cooling catheter requiring high-energy microwavesup to 60 to 80 wattsTherMatrx has no cooling catheter and only uses an average of 10 watts of energy. What makes TherMatrx unique is the "Dose-Optimization" that it brings to thermotherapy. That is, the optimal dose of heat needed for each patient to provide significant relief of BPH symptoms with minimal side effects and excellent in-office tolerance. This optimal dose of heat is delivered in every TherMatrx treatment.
