• Evaluation of systemic arterial stiffness (Aortic Augmentation Index) and its clinical impact on the heart in increasing patient risk of heart failure, stroke and myocardial ischaemia.

Using a validated generalized transfer function, the system derives the ascending aortic blood pressure waveform from the radial arterial pressure waveform. SphygmoCor then analyzes the central aortic waveform to central pressures and other provide key indices of arterial stiffness and cardiovascular risk. These indices include aortic augmentation pressure, aortic augmentation index, ejection duration, and Buckberg Index (subendocardial viability ratio). Data are reported against age- and gender-specific reference normals.
