| Description | The SJM Pericardial Patch with EnCap technology is used for cardiac and great vessel reconstruction/repair and for pericardial closure. It is glutaraldehyde-treated bovine pericardium and offers surgeons durability and flexibility, plus improved suturability and handling over synthetic patches. Equally important in a tissue patch product is the ability to prevent calcification and the complications that may follow. The SJM Pericardial Patch has EnCap technology applied, which has been shown in animals to minimize the calcification to which regular glutaraldehyde-treated bovine pericardium patches are vulnerable. EnCap technology has also been shown in animals to promote host endothelial covering. |
