S.S.T.® Small Bone Locking Nail

ProductsS.S.T.® Small Bone Locking Nail
Company Biomet Orthopedics, Inc
Item S.S.T.® Small Bone Locking Nail
Features
  • One set of user-friendly instruments for both SST® Fibula and SST® Forearm Locking Nails.
  • Readily treats the most complex fractures, non-unionsor osteoporotic bone.
  • Fully cannulated nails and scews simplify insertion.
  • Ideal for unreamed applications.
  • Closed technique may reduce operative time, blood loss, and minimize tissue trauma.
  • Description Closed intramedullary nailing techniques have largely replaced the use of plates and screws in the treatment of long bone fractures. The use of rods or pins in the forearm or ankle is not a new concept, however, there has been no way to lock the pins or hold them in place. A common worry associated with a non-locked nail is back out of the implant. The SST® (Stainless Steel Taper) is the first, small diameter intramedullary nail for the forearm or fibula that combines the advantages of a closed operative technique with proximal and/or distal locking capability.
