| Description | The Reveal Rapid HIV-1 Antibody Test (Reveal Test) is MedMiras flagship rapid HIV test. This test detects antibodies in human serum or plasma against HIV-1 that are produced by the body in response to HIV infection. The Reveal Test is based on MedMiras proprietary flow-through membrane technology, and is comprised of a single-use test cartridge containing an immunoreactive test membrane. The membrane functions to capture HIV-1 antibodies in serum or plasma when a drop of the specimen is applied. The test is manually performed and visually interpreted with the result available within 3 minutes. Like all MedMira rapid tests, precision pipetting, sample manipulation or specialized equipment is not required to perform the Reveal Test.
The Reveal Test is actively used today in hospitals in the U.S. The Reveal Test is a point-of-care test to aid in the diagnosis of HIV-1 infection in such situations as occupational exposures to blood and other body fluids, during labor and delivery and for general screening. |
