Description The Prostar XL 8F Percutaneous Vascular Surgical (PVS) System consists of the Prostar XL 8F PVS Device and a Perclose Knot Pusher. The Prostar XL 8F PVS Devices are composed of a sheath which contains two pairs of sutured needles as well as a needle guide and a rotating barrel which precisely control the needles during deployment. the Perclose Knot Pusher is used to advance surgical knots to the arteriotomy. The Perclose Arterial Tamper is an optional accessory if, in the judgment of the physician, additional hemostatic control of the site is required. Hemostasis is achieved by means of a percutaneous surgical closure of the arteriotomy following diagnostic or interventional catheterization procedures.

The Prostar XL 8F PVS Device is designed for use in 6.5F to 8F access sites.

The Prostar XL 8F PVS System is indicated for the percutaneous delivery of sutures for closing the common femoral artery access site, reducing the time to hemostasis and time to ambulation (patient walks ten feet) for patients who have undergone catheterization procedure using 6.5F to 8F sheaths. The Prostar XL 8F System reduces the time to discharge for patients who have undergone diagnostic catheterization procedures without complicating clinical conditions (refer to PRECAUTIONS, Special Patient Populations).
