Permacol surgical implant

• Permacol surgical implant is a sterile off white, moist, strong but flexible flat sheet of acellular porcine collagen and its constituent elastin fibres presented moist in sterile saline.
• Permacol surgical implant comes ready to use in double vacuum packed aluminium foil/polyethylene sachets which are impermeable to oxygen, and is sterilised by gamma irradiation.
• Permacol surgical implant is non allergenic and resistant to collagenase attack.

Porcine dermal collagen has an architecture very close to that of human tissue and as Permacol surgical implant in the sheet format is not a reconstituted form of collagen that 3-D architecture is maintained. A precisely controlled degree of cross-linking is introduced into the structure, making it resistant to collagenase enzymes responsible for the breakdown and resorption of implanted collagen.
