The purity of cyclic chain perfluorocarbons such as perfluorodecalin (about 95 percent pure) and perfluorophenanthrene cannot be accurately verified because they generate multiple peaks in gas liquid chromatography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic analysis. However, Perfluoron has a straight chain, which generates a single peak so its purity can be accurately analyzed.
