| Description | OP-1, also known as BMP-7, is a member of a class of naturally occurring growth factors called Bone Morphogenetic Proteins. OP-1 Implant is known to induce new bone formation in both developing and mature skeletal systems. The FDA approved OP-1 Implant under the Humanitarian Device Exemption (HDE) in October 2001. OP-1 Implant is now available across the country and is indicated for use as an alternative to the patients own bone (autograft) in recalcitrant long bone nonunions where autograft is unfeasible and alternative treatments have failed. |
