  • Description The information gathering and distribution power of the Nightingale system is further magnified by the option of connecting the MPC workstations to Zoe Medical's Online Care Unit™ (OCU). The OCU is essentially a database driven web site that serves as a secure, central clearinghouse for patient information acquired from any Nightingale Monitoring System that has been configured to have an OCU connection. Patient information can be automatically uploaded to the OCU either from an individual monitor or from an MPC. The information in the OCU is then instantly available anywhere to authorized caregivers.

    Using the OCU, a patient participating in a clinical trial or a disease state management program could use a Nightingale monitor to check his or her vital signs data on a daily basis from home. The monitor's built-in modem has the ability to dial up a preprogrammed number and upload the vital signs data automatically, making it conveniently available to the clinical staff who are working with the patient.
