EXD is suitable for use in Class 1, Group D hazardous locations, all divisions; "atmospheres containing gasoline, petroleum, naphtha, benzol, lacquer, solvent vapors or natural gas."
Adherence to these specifications is so strict that the EXD design and manufacture must be independently audited and certified by Underwriters Laboratories. Thus, EXD is the only continuously approved laboratory explosion-proof floor model centrifuge in the world.

Hundreds of accessory combinations are available, including specialized rotors for oil testing, up to 6 liters sample capacity and up to 408 x 5 ml (12x75 mm) tubes.
Optional heating jacket provides heat centrifugation conditions with control to 150oF. This is especially advantages for performing ASTM test method D-4007 and purifying impurities in chemicals, solid at room temperature. EXD is not tested for explosion-proof certification under heated centrifugation conditions.
