  • The LVAS devices that are currently available require percutaneous drive lines and external tethers to a power source. In the Arrow LionHeart LVAS, these lines and tethers are eliminated through the use of a transcutaneous energy transmission system. Power is supplied in the Arrow LionHeart LVAS through transcutaneous energy which charges implanted batteries in patients and allows patients to be completely untethered for approximately 20 minutes. This represents a significant advance in mechanical circulatory assist technology.
  • Fully automated control algorithm automatically responds to changes in the recipients condition. The Arrow LionHeart LVAS has been designed to optimize the amount of blood that can be pumped to meet the patients needs.
  • Modular design of the Arrow LionHeart LVAS allows for exchange of discreet subsystems that require replacement or upgrading over time.
    • Description The Arrow LionHeart Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS), manufactured by Arrow International, Inc., is designed to be used as a destination therapy for patients with progressive, irreversible, end-stage (Class IV) congestive heart failure, for which heart transplantation is not an option. The Arrow LionHeart LVAS is not intended as a bridge to transplant or as a bridge to recovery of ventricular function. It is a therapeutic option for patients who are ineligible for heart transplantation.
