| Description | The GUARDIAN® Limb Salvage System offers five different products for limb salvage surgery. The materials used to make these components are cobalt-chrome, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene, and titanium. All GUARDIAN products are extensions of Wright Medical Technologys hip and ADVANCE knee replacement products. The distal femur consists of a rotating hinge design which allows salvage in cases where bone loss is so great that the ligaments cannot be saved. A prosthesis consists of a femoral stem, optional midsection, hinged femur/tibia, axial pin, polyethylene spacers, tibial sleeve, and a tibial stem extension. The proximal tibia has a resurfacing femur design which allows for only 28 mm of femoral bone resection and is available in a wide range of sizes that promote optimal prosthesis fit. This prosthesis consists of a femoral stem, a resurfacing hinge femur/tibia, axial pin, polyethylene spacer, proximal tibial component, optional midsections, and tibial stem. The proximal femur consists of a femoral neck, optional midsections, and a stem. The femoral taper accepts co-cr or aluminum/ceramic femoral heads in a variety of diameters and varying neck lengths. This prosthesis is fully compatible with Wright Medical Technologys acetabular cup system for the most compatible fit. The total femur prosthesis consists of a femoral neck, midsections, a male-to-male midsection, a hinged femur/tibia, axial pin, polyethylene spacer, tibial sleeve, and a tibial stem extension. Like the proximal femur, this femoral neck will accept any of the Wright Medical Technology femoral heads and acetabular cup systems. |
