    • Description The many benefits of fibre bronchoscopy: The HF-compatible V series from Pentax, the standard by which all other fibre bronchoscopes are measured.

    The HF-compatible series of fibre bronchoscopes from PENTAX, including the FB-19TV, FB-18V and FB-15V models along with the very slim FB-10V and the pediatric FB-8V, offer much better image quality thanks mainly to the higher resolution and wider angle of view. The excellent positioning of the instrument channel opening is just one example of their outstanding ergonomic properties.

    With up to 40% more glass fibres and a smaller fibre cross-section, the new V series of fibre bronchoscopes provides much better resolution, brightness and sharpness of detail. Together with a 10% larger image and a 120 degree angle of view, the quality of the endoscopic image is improved significantly. Even the smallest findings are clearly displayed. This means a more secure diagnosis and a marked reduction in eye strain, as well as a better-quality optical record if one is being made.

    The new V series is ideal not only for diagnostic use but also for therapeutic applications, especially endobronchial high-frequency surgery.

    It is becoming increasingly widely used as an affordable and effective alternative to laser technology in tumour resection and the quenching of acute haemorrhaging. Pentax supports this development: The FB-19TV, FB-18V and the FB-15V fibre bronchoscopes are equipped with a non-conductive distal end, preventing unintentional diversion of the high-frequency current and thereby guaranteeing safe, targeted use.

    Better video documentation quality. A single hand movement allows the operator to attach the new fibre bronchoscopes with a powerful video system. A recorder head conceals a high-resolution 470,000-pixel colour CCD chip; it can be fully immersed, including the lens. The two push-buttons allow the operator to control the video functions without difficulty.

    The control unit is attached to a keyboard which is used to input data.

    This system creates a record which meets modern quality assurance requirements. Further proof of the system`s versatility: flexible and rigid endoscopes made by other manufacturers can be attached to the recorder via additional adaptors.
