Description EYESI is a simulator for intraocular surgery. The use of advanced computer technology gives the surgeon the feeling that he is experiencing real intraocular surgery. During simulated surgery the surgeon uses instruments that feel and function just like the real ones. The view through the EYESI microscope is similar to the familiar stereo vision through the surgical microscope. The course of surgery is not predefined but is dependent on the way the surgeon works. Tissue reaction is individually computed in each training session. The system is intuitively controlled through a touch display. EYESI allows you to experience intraocular surgery realistically outside the operating room.

Ophthalmosurgical training It takes a long time to gain broad experience. The learning process, in particular the handling of complications, is limited by the number of cases in hospitals. Wetlab training is only realistic to a certain extent. Beginners can only gain surgical experience on patients, thus increasing the risk of complications. The lack of routine in treating rare cases can make it necessary to refer patients to specialized hospitals. It is difficult to produce objective documentation of training successes and surgical ability.

Optimization potential An ideal training system generates realistic surgery situations and enables trainee surgeons to get familiar with standard surgery procedures as well as the treatment of rare cases and complications. The handling of new surgical instruments and the use of new surgical procedures can be practiced without any risk for the patient. The surgical ability of trainee doctors can be tested and assessed objectively. The training method is available at any time and without any effort.

The next step in training, teaching and instruction
Training with EYESI is realistic and is not on patients. The risk of complications inherent in conventional practical training is reduced to a minimum. With its autodidactic training methods and easy accessibility EYESI offers significantly better efficiency in training and further training. Reproducibility and documentation options ensure that surgical abilities are assessed objectively. EYESI enables optimum preparation in the use of new instruments, equipment and surgical techniques. Surgery with EYESI is fun.
