Features Proprietary Mechanism of Action: The Cutting Balloon Ultra device uses microsurgical atherotomes mounted on the surface of a non-compliant balloon for:
  • Scoring the plaque
  • Severing the elastic and fibrotic continuity of the vessel wall
  • Dilating the target lesion at lower pressures
  • Achieving lumen gain primarily through plaque compression and less through vessel wall expansion
  • Precise dilatation


    • Reduces Hoop Stress and Trauma: The Cutting Balloon Ultra device relieves hoop stress by making a series of small, precisely controlled incisions. The non-compliant balloon gently dilates the incised areas resulting in:
  • More plaque compression, less vessel wall expansion
  • Reduced barotrauma
  • Less vessel elastic recoil


    • Shown to be Safe and Effective Clinical studies have shown the Cutting Balloon Ultra device to be safe, effective and cause less trauma to the vessel wall than conventional balloon angioplasty.

    Over-the-Wire Platform: 60 polycarbonate hub for increased durability
    Description The Cutting Balloon Ultra device consists of a non-compliant balloon with 3 or 4 atherotomes (microsurgical blades) mounted longitudinally on its outer surface. When the Cutting Balloon Ultra device is inflated, the atherotomes score the plaque, creating initiation sites for plaque propagation. This process, referred to as Atherotomy, allows dilatation of the target lesion with less pressure.
