Description When you hear the word "laboratory," it brings to mind images of test tubes, vials, microscopes and a host of other familiar items. With the introduction of the Brady Code Reader 2.0 (CR2), you can add a bar code reader to the list of critical lab tools. Brady Corporation has made bar coding a useful and practical tool for the lab with the introduction of the CR2. It is the first truly universal reader that offers a full complement of capabilities.More and more labs are migrating to bar coding as an effective, accurate means to label and keep track of samples. For the system to work, lab technicians need a fast and convenient way to read and store bar codes. Bulky readers with limited functionality - the type often seen in retail inventory applications - aren't practical in a lab where space is at a premium and needs are more specialized.

In response to those needs, Brady developed the CR2. The durable CR2 offers a superior working range, and is smaller and more lightweight than other systems, making it ideal for lab applications.

The CR2 reads both linear (Code 39) and high-density 2D (Datamatrix) bar codes. The CR2 includes a dual path optical system, a 1.3 million-pixel CMOS sensor and a 400 MHz processor in a lightweight, compact and durable housing.

The CR2 is available as a cabled (USB or RS-232), batch (store and forward) and cordless device. The cordless version includes a Bluetooth radio with 300 foot operating range. It performs more than 4,000 reads and transmits from a single battery charge.

Versatility is the hallmark of the CR2. Its portability and high-speed data transfer rate make it ideal for laboratory applications. The handheld CR2 features a clip-on pistol grip handle for ease of operation, and a Lithium-Ion battery for long life.
