Cem-Ostetic Optimal Bone Generation

ProductsCem-Ostetic Optimal Bone Generation
Company Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials
Item Cem-Ostetic Optimal Bone Generation
Features
  • Cem-Ostetic bone void filler is indicated only for bony voids or gaps that are not intrinsic to the stability of the bone structure.
  • The putty can be molded to specific shapes and placed into the bony void or gap (e.g., extremities, spine, pelvis, or cranium), or directly injected into it.
  • When mixed with the indicated amount of sterile distilled water, the putty hardens within 5 minutes.
  • This putty is biodegradable, biocompatible, and has a neutral pH, which provides ideal conditions for healing surrounding tissues.
  • Once mixed with water for 60 seconds, the Cem-Ostetic putty can be placed in contact with other fluids, bone chips, or demineralized bone matrix to enhance bone reconstruction.
  • The Cem-Ostetic paste set in situ or ex situ provides an open void filler that can augment hardware to help support bone fragments during the surgical procedure.
  • The set putty acts as a temporary support medium and is not intended to provide structural support during the healing process. Cem-Ostetic is provided sterile for single use only.
  • Description Cem-Ostetic is a neutral pH bone putty that contains calcium-based biocompatible calcium salts that have been used for decades in orthopedic surgery. These materials are often used to provide an additional source of bone to help the patient heal faster. BAB formulates the chemistry and microstructure to enhance bone regeneration, provide optimal osteo-conduction and reduce the time for the bone to regain its full health. Cem-Ostetic's unique putty formula sets up quickly with marginal exothermic reaction (less than 4C). The putty hardens within 5 minutes. Cem-Ostetic putty is available doses ranging from 5cc to 30cc.

Cem-Ostetic is very easy to prepare in the surgery room, as illustrated to the right. Mix the powder in the vial with the premeasured volume of sterile distilled water for 1 minute, shape your implant or inject it into the void to be filled, and let the putty harden for another 4 minutes. It's that simple!

The formulation of Cem-Ostetic combines well-established biocompatible calcium-based phases with water and does not involve other materials such as polymers or plasticizing agents. The bone putty can be used safely to reconstruct the skeletal system. Caution: Cem-Ostetic does not harden when mixed with blood. Cem-Ostetic hardens when mixed with water first and then mixed with blood. After mixing with water, it will harden when injected into blood.
