To take a picture of a patients corneal endothelium, you simply ask the patient to place his or her chin on the chin rest. The left side of the chin rest allows you to photograph the right eye. The right side of the chin rest, allows you to photograph the left eye. This chin rest is the same on all of the models. On the fully featured models, the chin rest is motorized You then ask the patient to look at the green light, which is the fixation target located in the center of their view. On the CC-5000 and the CC-7000 models, only one fixation target is provided. It is possible to photograph in the peripheral areas by asking the patient to look away from the central fixation target. Either up or down, or left or right. If you were planning to photograph a great deal of peripheral shots, we would recommend that you consider one of the fully featured models.
After you have photographed the patients endothelium, it is now possible to ascertain the cell count. To perform this function, the operator draws a box on the screen using the computer mouse supplied with the unit. After the box is drawn, the operator places a dot in each cell inside the box. Again utilizing the mouse. After the cells are marked, the operator selects "END again with the mouse. A cell count will appear on the screen. The image and the results of the cell count can now be printed using the optional video printer. If one of our computers were attached to the microscope, you would save the image at this time.
