Company NMT Medical, Inc.
Item CardioSEAL
Features
Description CardioSEAL is a second generation device, having evolved from an earlier version that was tested in over 700 patients beginning in 1989. Designed with the direct input of leading pediatric cardiologists who perform these procedures, CardioSEAL has been extensively tested in computer simulations, on the engineering bench, and in animals. In bench testing it has been put through the equivalent of 20 years of adult heartbeats without failure of the framework. In animal testing, it has shown excellent growth of new tissue into the fabric on the device. On the computer, we have simulated high stress environments whereby it conforms exceptionally to the differences in cardiac anatomy. Over ten years of engineering work have been put into CardioSEAL.
