    • Description BCC (Breast Cancer Camera) a digital special purpose scintimammography camera. Offering ultra-high resolution, the ability to image to the edge of the detector and separate the breast from the chest wall, as well as breast containment and stabilization and stereotactic imaging for biopsy and surgery, IS2s breast scintimammography camera is a dedicated system with breast containment and stereotactic localization for biopsy and surgery.

    The BCC may also be used for auxiliary node scanning. This specialized unit combines the ultra high intrinsic spatial resolution of the IS2 family of cameras with specially designed and optimized collimators for high-resolution scintimammography. The fixed geometry of the camera and the specially shaped breast containers hold the breasts in an exact and reproducible position to allow stereotactic imaging.

    Early studies indicate that the BCC should be able to identify lesions of 5mm and less. Using stereotactic imaging, the BCC precisely locates the lesions in three dimensions. Compression of the breasts, which can often cause pain, is not required. The patient lies face down on a specifically designed table. Both breasts can be imaged simultaneously. A customized collimator assists in separating breast tissue from the chest wall.

    Computer Aided Diagnostic software may be used to assist the clinician in confirming potential lesions. The new scintimammography camera promises to be an ideal adjunctive tool for x-ray mammography.
