Medicare to cover services provided by rural health care personnels.

Australian Health Minister Tony Abbott told the press that all the medical expenditures of pregnant women will be covered by medicare if they consulted qualified health care // personnels.

This plan is introduced mainly to ensure proper medical care in the rural areas. But in a period of six months this plan will add $5 million to the annual expenditure of medicare.

This plan will help in reducing the amount of expenditure of the rural women by $18. The plan would come into action only after the completion of the discussion with a panel of doctors and other medical professionals.

The health minister also pointed out that they have doubled the amount of money given as incentive payments to the rural doctors, midwives, nurses and the other rural health workforce.

This would again cost an extra $5.2 million every year to the government. From the next month the rural doctors would receive a total amount of $15000 under the government’s new incentive program.

This is mainly done to increase as well as appreciate the work done by the physicians who provide surgical, anaesthetic and obstetric services to rural and remote communities throughout Australia.

This will further enhance their services and keep them motivated to serve the rural communities.

A total of 800 physicians will work in the development and betterment of the medical services provided in the rural areas of Australia.
