A study in Britain has found that nearly one-third of people are disappointed that the condom has not served its purpose, due to rupture, or simply slipping off// during sex, which defeats the goal of using condoms.

NOP world undertook a survey of nearly 497 people for the FPA, Family Planning association, and the findings revealed that nearly 64% were groping in the dark about the reasons for ineffective use of condoms. As much as 43% of the respondents also preferred not to thrash out such problems in the open, due to the sensitivity involved in discussing penis size and associated embarrassment. Further, 25% of the surveyed people were not even aware that condoms were available in different lengths and sizes.

Toni Belfield, FPA's director of information said, "Men come in different shapes and sizes and so do condoms. Poor use of condoms can have devastating consequences on people's sexual health. Recent figures show the United Kingdom has the highest ever number of new cases of chlamydia and continued high rates of unwanted pregnancies."

The FPA has appealed to the government managed NHS, which distributes free condoms in Britain, to enable people with a good variety of condoms so that people are able to pick the best fit. According to Belfield, the problems that surround a condom splitting or just coming off are in effect due to usage of inappropriate condom size. Condom failures have a bearing on how condoms are perceived and used; therefore it is imperative to enable people with the condom that fits to a ‘T’.
