Wyeth Pharma Wins Law Suit

Wyeth Pharma was given a favorable verdict in a case filed against the company regarding its hormone replacement drug. This case was filed by Helen Rush of Little Rock.//

According to Rush, the hormone replacement drugs premarin and prempro of Wyeth Pharma had caused breast cancer in her. But the lawyers representing the pharma company had argued that Rush’s genetic factors and smoking would anyway have led her to the disease irrespective of the drugs.

Premarin and premro have been approved by US FDA and have remained in the market for quite some time. These drugs are intended to lessen the menopausal symptoms in women.

Rush claimed that she had taken premarin and premro believing in the cardiovascular benefits of the drug. Meanwhile the Women's Health Initiative by the National Institutes of Health is keen to probe the cardiovascular benefits of these drugs. Incidentally Wyeth Pharma has been involved in a number of law suits against it across the country.
